Therapy for Relationships & Attachment

When old patterns show up in present relationships

Relationships can bring some of our deepest patterns to the surface.

Maybe you become anxious when someone pulls away. You find yourself needing reassurance even when part of you knows everything is okay. You avoid conflict, put other people’s needs ahead of your own, struggle to set boundaries, or shut down when someone gets too close.

You might notice yourself choosing similar relationships again and again, or reacting in ways that don’t seem to match what’s happening in the moment.

How we learned to experience closeness, trust, conflict, and emotional safety can be influenced by our earliest relationships as well as experiences we’ve had later in life. Patterns that once helped us maintain connection or protect ourselves can sometimes follow us into relationships where we no longer need them in the same way.

How I Can Help

Together, we can get curious about the patterns that show up in your relationships and what may be underneath them.

We might explore how you respond to closeness, distance, conflict, rejection, or uncertainty, what you’ve learned to expect from other people, and what happens when your needs and someone else’s needs come into tension.

Therapy can also be a place to better understand your own needs, practise communicating them, explore boundaries, and develop a stronger sense of trust in yourself.

The goal isn’t to tell you which relationships to choose. It’s to help you understand yourself within your relationships so you can make more intentional choices about how you want to connect with others.
